FIXED FEE DIVORCES
If you are the PETITIONER (the person applying for the divorce)
£475 PLUS VAT - to include:
- Initial attendance and advice which will be confirmed in writing
- Preparation of the divorce petition and supporting documentation
- Lodging divorce petition with the court
- Dealing with the acknowledgement of service when it is received
- Preparation of Affidavit in support of petition and request for Decree nisi
- Applying for and obtaining Decree Absolute.
In addition the following court fees will apply:
- To issue the proceedings £340*
- To apply for Decree Absolute £45*
- Total £955
* In some cases and subject to a means assessment you may be eligible for fee remission so that you pay either a reduced fee or even no fee at all.
(There is a swearing fee payable at the decree nisi stage if you choose to have your affidavit sworn by an independent solicitor rather than at the court which will usually be £7.)
The above fees assume that the matter is straightforward and that your spouse returns their acknowledgement of service to the court reasonably promptly. It does not include advice in relation to finances (division of assets maintenance etc) or issues in relation to children.
In the event that there are difficulties with service or the court requires additional steps to be taken the following additional fees will apply if you instruct us to do the work:
- Arranging personal service of the petition including obtaining an additional sealed copy of the petition, liaising with the process server and lodging affidavit of service £75 plus vat and process servers fees
- Preparing an amended petition £75 plus vat
- Preparing an application with affidavit in support to dispense with service or in support of an application for deemed service £100 plus vat and relevant court fees*.

If you are the RESPONDENT (the person served with divorce papers)
£175 PLUS VAT - to include:
Initial attendance and advice which will be confirmed in writing
- Completing, filing and serving the acknowledgement of service on your behalf
- Advising you of the date for the Decree Nisi and dealing with the documentation
- Advising you of the Decree Absolute and dealing with the documentation.
The fee does not include defending the divorce or applying for the decree absolute in the event that the petitioner fails to do so. It does not include advice in relation to finances (division of assets, maintenance etc) or issues in relation to children.
